Melissa came to KWC wanting to create a brand identity for her artistic endeavors, under the name Melissa S. Roth Studios. After a truly inspiring strategy session, we worked together to establish her tagline, "Creating Beauty. Fostering Connection. Cultivating Joy.," and moved forward with the goal of creating a personal, elegant, and simplistic brand identity that would serve as an anchor to her art, not a distraction.

I love a conceptual brand mark, obviously; but a highly conceptualized mark doesn't make sense if it doesn't serve the client (or their target audience). This was one such instance. After speaking, I realized that Melissa's art felt more like an extension of herself than an external hobby—it's not what she does, it's who she is. So while it still needed to appeal to her target audience, it needed to feel like her. The resulting mark was a hand-drawn geranium that was personal to her, evoked beauty, and served as a visual connection to the tagline that was created in tandem.
